what is better 200g insulated boots or 400g to keep my feet warm?
i work outside for more than 8 hours a day
i am not an expert on this but i do no something on insulation since i go backpacking and stuff. In down sleeping bags there are weights like 850g or 300g goose down and what not. The more grams of goose down the warmer you get, generally. the colder rated sleeping bags have around 850g goose down in them. that is usually the case, but not always. it all depends on the fill material like goose down or polyester synthetic fibers. if u are comparing on that them i cant answer the question, but if they are the same fill then yes the 400g will have more insulating power. if they are the same boots with different weights then here is and explanation. there are air pockets in insulation that hinder the flow of heat keeping your feet warm. the looser the material inside the boot the bigger the air pockets and the easier it is for heat to flow out. the more material the tighter the material, leading to a tightly pack insulated boot with lots of tiny air pockets which is good for insulation. the more stuff = more insulation power. 400g is the better choice.
